In an unprecedented turn of events, the opening minutes of the Global Premier League match between teams Alpha and Beta came to a screeching halt when the centre-pitch turf began a synchronized wave motion. Officials stopped the game while players and referees watched the grass roll like stadium audience chants.
Grounds-crew inspection earlier had cleared the surface as “match-ready,” but unknown to them a maintenance contractor had accidentally installed a vibration-module beneath the sod intended for post-match celebrations. When a striker took the opening kick the system triggered, turning the 22 players into unwilling surfers.
